Venice, Italy - Escape the Winter Blues!

October 1, 2009 0 Comments

Venice, Italy; one of the most ancient, exotic, and wonderful places in the world to visit. Venice was home to many civilizations over the past few centuries and is now home to the Italians that are very proud of their beautiful country. It is said that in the American winter months Venice is filled with American "heat-seekers" that have eluded the frigid North American months. While this peak season might be a little hot and a little more expensive, it is definitely a unique winter vacation. Think about it, while you are sitting down at a nice, European cafe overlooking the Mediterranean sea, your friends and family back home are throwing on layer after layer of clothing to try to keep the chills away! What a glorious breakfast that would be!

One of the most reputable "palaces" (resorts) would be the Hotel Danieli. This palace is surprisingly affordable and it's restaurant (which is world renown) overlooks the sea which is seen for miles five stories below the balcony. The building was first built in the 14th century and has been a hotel since 1822. But don't worry! It has been renovated many times and is now a very modern get-away for those European travelers.

But if you do happen to want a little more accommodating accommodations you might consider either the Gritti Palace or the Westin Europa and Regina. Both of these resorts are world renown, they have been the setting for many movie scenes and a home away from home for many stars such as Sean Connery, Fred Astaire, and Catherine Deneuve! If you do happen to be staying at either of these two "palaces" then be sure to check out the Caffes Florian and the Quadri for the most memorable Italian meals of your life! Its worth it.
